Lallybroch
Lallybroch began as an abstract exploration—free, fluid, and unplanned. Layers of color and texture were built instinctively, guided by movement rather than destination. At a certain point, the work stalled, caught in the space between motion and meaning. Stepping away and inviting outside perspective allowed the piece to breathe again, and within the abstract layers, a familiar form quietly emerged.
Inspired by Outlander, where Midhope Castle stands as Lallybroch—Broch Tuarach, the ancestral home of the Fraser family, the structure revealed itself not as a subject imposed, but as one already present. What surfaced was less about the physical place and more about what it represents: home, resilience, lineage, and the pull of memory across time.
This piece is a reflection on trust—trust in the creative process, in pauses that feel uncomfortable, and in allowing meaning to rise naturally rather than forcing resolution. Lallybroch stands as a reminder that sometimes the path forward is already beneath the surface, waiting for us to slow down long enough to see it.
